While some good news came out on Monday that Shea Patterson will be Michigan’s starting quarterback, some very sad news transpired as well.

While Newsome did his best to rehab from a devastating leg injury in 2016 and make it back on the field, he just couldn’t get his leg back healthy enough to play in football games again.
It’s certainly a sad end to his playing career, one that showed tremendous promise.
The silver lining and the good news attached to the sadness is that Newsome will now be a student coach, helping coach the tight ends.
This may be the end of Grant Newsome the football player, but this is the beginning of Grant Newsome the coach.
