Michigan opens as one-score underdog at Penn State

The Wolverines have opened as a road underdog at No. 7 Penn State.

Michigan football heads on the road for another tough test this weekend with a trip to No. 7 Penn State and the odds have been revealed ahead of the showdown that will be a White Out atmosphere in a night game in Happy Valley.

According to Vegas Insider, Michigan enters the game as an 8-point underdog heading into this weekend’s game with the over/under for total points scored set at 47.5 points. The opening odds are from Circa Sports.

Jim Harbaugh is 3-1 against Penn State since arriving at Michigan, but the one loss came on a similar stage in 2017 in a 42-13 throttling of the Wolverines in a night game at Beaver Stadium. The Wolverines have won in Happy Valley in the Harbaugh era with a 28-16 victory in his debut season in 2015.

Michigan is 0-7 as an underdog in the Harbaugh era and is 1-9 against top ten opponents. They are also 1-6 on the road against ranked teams with the win coming at Michigan State last season.

Penn State entered the top ten of the AP Poll this week and is coming off of a 17-12 win over Iowa on Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium. Michigan, who remains at No. 16, held off Illinois for a 42-25 victory on Saturday afternoon. ESPN’s College GameDay will also be on hand for this Saturday’s game.

Michigan-Penn State kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night and will be broadcast via ABC.
