Chase Winovich says he’s getting thumb surgery, working out as LB/DL for NFL teams

Former Michigan defensive end Chase Winovich participated in Michigan’s pro day on Friday.

When speaking with the media, Winovich revealed he will be getting thumb surgery very soon.

Winovich also shared that he participated in linebacker and defensive line drills at pro day.

This is an important development for Winovich and shows NFL teams view him as a versatile prospect.

With Winovich’s combination of speed and strength, he could play as a 4-3 DE or as a stand-up 3-4 outside linebacker.

Winovich would likely thrive as a 3-4 OLB. His 40-yard dash time of 4.59 is elite for a linebacker and indicates he can run laterally well, which would make him a good OLB option that can cover the flat on a given down, and rush the passer on the next.
