Jim Harbaugh once said that Ben Mason was put on this Earth to play fullback.
But maybe Mason was just put on this Earth to punish people on a football field.
According to Chase Winovich, Mason wants to play on both sides of the football in 2019.
Winovich said he believes Ben Mason wants to play more defense this fall

Mason has been a contributor on Special Teams, and he likely could contribute defense, but it remains to be seen if Harbaugh and Don Brown will be willing to give him a shot on D.
Mason has become very valuable as an offensive weapon, racking up 7 rushing touchdowns in 2018. But Jim Harbaugh has used a stud fullback before on defense, at Stanford he let a favorite of his, Owen Marecic, play both ways, so there is precedent for this with Harbaugh.
Mason does have experience on defense, he played inside linebacker in high school.
