After a bit of controversy regarding his appeal coming down the stretch, Rashan Gary was selected with the 12th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. The former top-overall prospect has taken a lot of criticism for an ailing shoulder issue and some productivity concerns, but his raw potential may be unmatched in this draft class.
Many fans expected the world from Gary upon his arrival at Michigan, which was understandable given his accolades. Though his stats never quite lived up to the hype, there is no denying that Gary made a significant impact when he played, consistently drawing double teams and the complete attention of the opposing offense.
Gary has the versatility to play all along the defensive line, and do not be surprised to see him really blossom in the NFL. His explosiveness and physicality are undeniable, as his is athleticism, which consistently ranks above his peers. Few players have the physical traits to match Gary, and any concerns about his on-field production show just a shadow of his true ability.
