For the last several years PFF has been drooling over David Long. Now the Michigan corner is headed to the NFL to prove those grades to be true at the professional level as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Long was selected in the third round on Friday night.
It’s go time, @dljxxii!

Welcome @UMichFootball CB David Long to the #LARams! pic.twitter.com/b4aHaeDf9k
Long is an undersized corner, which is a huge part of why he was not drafted higher. He also only had three interceptions in his collegiate career. Many argue that his coverage caused a low target total, quarterbacks didn’t want to throw his way.
However, Long was thought of very highly for his man-coverage skills:

Long was a two-year starter in Ann Arbor and was a two-time All-Big Ten nominee in 2017 and 2018. He may be one of the most underrated corners in the draft, but he will have to earn every moment of playing time in the early parts of his career.
