Jim Harbaugh spoke with the media on Wednesday, giving injury updates, depth chart updates, and more:


  • Brad Hawkins is starting at nickel corner
  • Vincent Gray at left corner, Ambry Thomas at right
  • “Neck and neck” between kickers Jake Moody and Quinn Nordin
  • Said Josh Gattis is coaching a lot of people every single play
  • “Pretty far along after seven practices with the new system, and that’s a credit to Josh.”
  • RB Christian Turner has been hurt with a soft tissue hamstring ailment.
  • Tru Wilson is currently the starter, with Ben VanSumeren backing him up.
  • Said VanSumeren serves as a hybrid tailback/h-back
  • RB Hassan Haskins has been limited with a meniscus injury
  • DB Lucas Andrighetto tore his ACL, Harbaugh said it made him physically sick and that Lucas was doing well
  • Says offensive line is healthy and that it’s been a strength for the team
  • Andrew Steuber and Jalen Mayfield are battling it out for right tackle, “too close to call”
  • Said defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson is becoming a dominant player and has elevated his game
  • Said Donovan Jeter is the starting 3-tech DL, while Carlo Kemp is the starting nose tackle.

  • LB Josh Ross has a hamstring strain but hopes to have him back next week
