Football season is almost here! And today is a reflection of that fact with the preseason Amway Coaches Poll being released.
The Michigan Wolverines made the top ten, landing at No. 7.
A handful of Michigan’s opponents made the Top 25, including Ohio State (No. 5), Notre Dame (No. 9), Penn State (No. 14), Wisconsin (No. 17), Iowa (No. 19), and Michigan State (No. 20).
The top 2, unsurprisingly, are Clemson and Alabama, with Georgia and Oklahoma rounding out the top four.
It really hasn’t mattered what year it is or who’s on the roster during Jim Harbaugh’s tenure at Michigan, the team is usually ranked high to start the season, and this year follows that trend. Of course, heading into the 2019 season there’s an elevated sense of hype and enthusiasm with the hiring of new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, who has revamped the offense into an up-tempo/spread attack.
A little surprised to see #Michigan ranked as high as No. 7 in the Coaches Poll esp after the way 2018 ended for the Wolverines BUT I suspect there is a lot of optimism for new OC Josh Gattis and the change on offense--both scheme and personality--there: https://t.co/2IiIRuZWpm
