The Preseason AP Poll is out and the Michigan Wolverines find themselves at No. 7 in the country just under two weeks prior to their first game of the season.

The Wolverines finished last season at No. 14 in the final AP Poll of the season after going 10-3 and losing to the Florida Gators in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in the season’s final game. Those Florida Gators are now ranked No. 8 in the 2019 preseason poll, one spot behind the Wolverines.

Michigan started last season 10-1 before falling in each of their final two games.

Here is the full Top-25 Poll:

Last year’s National Champions, the Clemson Tigers, come in at No. 1 in the country followed by last year’s runner-up, the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Ohio State comes in at No. 5 after their dominant win over Michigan to end the 2018 regular season, and a big 28-23 win over the Washington Huskies in the 2019 Rose Bowl.

Along with Ohio State at No. 5, some Michigan regular season opponents found their way onto the list including No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 15 Penn State, No. 18 Michigan State, No. 19 Wisconsin, and No. 20 Iowa.

A total of seven Big Ten programs made the AP’s list as some the top teams heading into the season, the most of any Power-5 conference. The next closest is the SEC with six selections.

The Wolverines open up their season on Aug. 31 against the unranked Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The night game kicks off from the Big House at 7:30 PM ET.
