Michigan was a bit short-handed on Saturday night for the opening game against Middle Tennessee with a handful of projected starters not suiting up for the contest.
The biggest name of the bunch was Donovan Peoples-Jones at wide receiver, as he was in street clothes and in a walking boot. This appears to be a multiple-week injury and something that may go through the bye week, but we will know more for sure after the game.
On the offensive side of the ball, left tackle Jon Runyan did not start the game either with Ryan Hayes holding this down on Shea Patterson’s blind side. Jalen Mayfield — as expected — would start at right tackle.
On defense, defensive tackle Donovan Jeter did not suit up for the Wolverines on Saturday night and was replaced in the lineup by Ben Mason.
In positive news, Ambry Thomas has completed his return from colitis and started on the opposite side of Lavert Hill at cornerback.
We will have more on injuries, takeaways and whatever else comes out of Saturday night as the evening rolls on.
