Michigan Football’s season is now open after a 40-21 win over Middle Tennessee and now looks ahead to a Week 2 showdown with Army. The early line has been released by oddsmakers ahead of the contest with the Wolverines set as a 23.5-point favorite, according to Vegas Insider’s consensus.
The over/under is set at 48 points total for the contest.
Michigan and Army have played nine times in the history of the two programs with the Black Knights holding a 5-4 advantage all-time, though the Wolverines have won the last four in the series. However, it’s been awhile since these two met with the last showdown between the two teams taking place in 1962.
Army, who runs a triple option offense that should provide some unique challenges for a young Michigan defense, is coming off of a 14-7 win over Rice. The Black Knights had only eight pass attempts in the game compared to 56 rushes for 231 yards. Army’s defense held Rice to only 243 total yards.
Army was considered a fringe Top-25 team coming into the season and this matchup has long been singled out as a potential non-conference upset, especially after they took Oklahoma to overtime last season.
Saturday’s game from Ann Arbor kicks off at noon and is set to be broadcast via Fox Sports 1.
