Charles Woodson just wanted a TV gig and to share his expertise. He was not expecting to be humiliated on national television with Urban Meyer sitting next to him.
However, that is the position the Heisman Trophy winner and former Michigan star found himself in while working the Fox broadcast in the studio during the Wolverines’ 35-14 loss to Wisconsin, and he was visibly shaken by what had just occurred.
“I’m sick about how Michigan football looks right now,” Woodson said after the game ended. “And I came here on this show—this is my first weekend on Big Noon Kickoff—and I came here with high expectations of how my team was going to look in front of you guys. And I’ll be honest with you, man, I’m embarrassed. I’m embarrassed by that.”
Jake Long, the former All-American offensive tackle, was even more perturbed by the fact that the Wolverines appeared sluggish without much fire despite being down big late in the game.
Out of everything today, this bugged me the most. I don’t care if you’re down by 100, you don’t walk onto the field like that. Good or bad finish the game with a purpose. pic.twitter.com/WTvqCsZfaa

Steve Hutchinson feels a similar way:
.@UMichFootball I think I can speak for a lot of former UM players when I say, forget about winning. How about we just compete?

Even the most rational of fans seemed to turn a bit on the program after Saturday’s setback. It will be interesting to see what some of the other former players have to say. It does not matter, but those guys coming out and saying things that fans are carries a little more weight.
