Michigan finishes as lowest-ranked Big Ten team in final AP Poll

The final AP Top 25 Poll of the 2019 college football season was released on Tuesday, where the Michigan Wolverines come in ranked No. 18 in the country after finishing the campaign with a record of 9-4.

Six of the 14 Big Ten conference teams were ranked in the final poll of the season with Michigan as the lowest among them. Ohio State (3), Penn State (9), Minnesota (10), Wisconsin (11) and Iowa (15) came in ranked ahead of them. Alabama and Notre Dame finished at No. 8 and No. 12, respectively.

The Wolverines, who entered the season as the No. 7 team in the country and the potential favorite to win the Big Ten, played six of those seven teams this season with the exception being Minnesota and went 2-4. The wins came against Iowa and Notre Dame at home, while the losses came to Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama. They also finished two points ahead of Appalachian State, who came in at No. 19.

No other Big Ten team received votes in the final poll. Here’s the full list of 25:

Michigan now enters an offseason full of position battles and question marks, namely at quarterback, before opening the season on Sept. 5 at Washington in 2020.
