A lower than previously expected line that is getting lower.

We never would have thought that the Michigan Wolverines would be heading into Rutgers week with morale at a near-all-time low with a lack of confidence that they will win this game, but here we are. Based on what we have seen the last few weeks, Michigan certainly is not the favorite to the degree that we thought they might be, but are still holding on.

According to the opening lines released on Sunday afternoon, the Wolverines opened this week as a nine-point favorite over the Scarlet Knights, who are also 1-3 on the season. That line has gone down incrementally to 8.5 points with the over/under set at 54.5.

Michigan has played Rutgers six times in this series, all games that have come since they joined the Big Ten in 2014. The Wolverines are 5-1 in this game with the lone loss coming in a primetime game on the road in the final season of the Brady Hoke era.

Michigan won the opening game of the season at Minnesota by a score of 49-24, while Rutgers was able to grab a 38-27 win at Michigan State in the first week of the year. This will be a game between two teams looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

It will be another primetime showing for Michigan in this game with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff set from Piscataway on Saturday night on Big Ten Network.
