Mike DeBord, a former member of Lloyd Carr’s coaching staff and offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines football team, is back in Ann Arbor working at Schembechler Hall. DeBord is listed as analyst with the athletic department directory and posted a message to Twitter on Tuesday evening.
It’s GREAT to be a MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!!!

DeBord, 64, was on staff at Michigan from 1993-99 under head coaches Gary Moeller and Carr. He coached the offensive linemen from 1993-96 and coordinated that side of the ball from 1997-99, the first season of which saw the Wolverines win a national title. From there, he would coach at Central Michigan for three-years before returning to Michigan to work under Carr as the team’s offensive coordinator/tight ends coach from 2004-07.
Since then, DeBord has had stops at Tennessee for two seasons in 2015-16 and then two years at Indiana from 2017-18. He also coordinated the offense of the San Diego Fleet in the Alliance of American Football, which is now obsolete.
Michigan’s analyst jobs typically assist in game planning and behind the scenes work. The men or women in these positions are not allowed to recruit in an off-campus capacity or coach in practice.
We will have more on this front as more info becomes available. But...thoughts?
