Tru Wilson was set for an expanded role for the Michigan Wolverines in 2019, but never quite was able to land an opportunity due to injuries and emerging young talent in the running back room. As a result, he decided to enter the transfer portal and play his final year of eligibility elsewhere.
Wilson made his next destination official on Saturday with the announcement that he will be heading to Northern Colorado of the Big Sky Conference. Wilson will be eligible to play immediately as a graduate transfer player.

Wilson, who walked on to the team from De Le Salle in Warren, Michigan, finished his time in Ann Arbor with 107 carries that went for 506 yards in 21 games played. His work and production as a member of the scout team led to an opportunity to join Michigan’s stable of running backs, which he eventually would parlay into a full-ride scholarship.
He was usurped on the depth chart by the likes of true freshman Zach Charbonnet and redshirt freshman Hassan Haskins last season, who combined to be one of the conference’s best young tandems and project to get the majority of the carries during the 2020 season. Chris Evans also returns for his final year of eligibility with Christian Turner and incoming freshman Blake Corum also vying for time in the backfield.
