TE Nick Eubanks makes John Mackey Award watch list

Michigan’s senior tight end made the watch list for the most outstanding TE in college football.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 17 Indiana at Michigan

2020 may be Michigan senior tight end Nick Eubank’s most productive season yet, and he made a watch list reflecting that possibility.

On Friday morning Eubanks was named to the John Mackey Award watch list, which goes to the most outstanding tight end in college football.

“I like everything about Nick,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said last year. “He is one of my favorite players on the team, one of my favorite players I have ever coached. Progress has been really good. He has always been really athletic, can run, catch, his change of direction.”

Eubanks had 25 receptions for 243 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2019 during his first year in then new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis’ scheme. “You get to play how you want to play. They put you in the right position,” Eubanks said about Gattis’ system. “For me, it is a plus-plus.”

“He has really improved tremendously as a blocker. I think that is the thing that is separating him, as someone who can block a tight end, attached or detached at the line of scrimmage,” Harbaugh said. “He also has the ability to gain separation and catch the football and get downfield.”
