Michigan quarterback Joe Milton has been receiving a lot of recognition from his coaches and his peers of late. From leadership capabilities to on-field performances featuring ‘wow-plays’. Add defensive coordinator Don Brown to the list of those who’ve complimented Milton.
Brown called Milton a “great leader” and noted the kind of relationship the two have. “Here’s what I’ll tell you about Joe Milton. Joe and I have a great relationship. He’ll come in my office and ask me about coverage,” Brown said. “I don’t coach him, I don’t have anything to do with him, (QBs coach) Ben McDaniels does a great job — but that’s the kind of guy he is, reaching out.”
Offensive coordinator Josh Gattis said last week that Milton is one of the most improved players on the team with receiver Giles Jackson calling Milton “more focused” and “more serious”.
Brown pointed to Milton’s positive attitude as a strength. “He’s trying to get better everyday,” Brown said. “He’s trying to be smarter with concept, and he’s another one of those infectious guys. Got a smile on his face all the time, ready to go to work.”
When it comes to Milton’s arm, Brown has been impressed. “I’ve never seen a young man with a stronger arm than this guy, he can let it rip,” Brown said.
