The Michigan Wolverines have lost another true freshman to the transfer portal ahead of the 2020 season, this time in the form of linebacker Osman Savage. He was a four-star recruit out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore and was part of a trio of 2020 recruits that included four-star running back Blake Corum and linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green.

Savage was the No. 300 player in the country and No. 18 outside linebacker in the 2020 class, per the 247Sports Composite Ranking. He tweeted on Wednesday night that his recruitment was “100% open.”

Savage’s name had not come up a ton this offseason with early opportunities to crack the two-deep depth chart at multiple linebacker spots behind Cam McGrone and Josh Ross. Hill-Green and Kalel Mullings were singled out as true freshman that seem locked in to get some early playing time this year, while Cornell Wheeler is another member of the 2020 class the staff has been high on.

Savage is the second Wolverine from the 2020 class to enter the transfer portal before playing a game at Michigan after three-star defensive lineman Aaron Lewis did so earlier this offseason. He would wind up landing closer to home at Rutgers.
