Urban Meyer continues to be a bit of a boogeyman for the Michigan Wolverines long after leaving his post with the Ohio State Buckeyes. According to a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the now-NFL head coach is interviewing Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary for a spot on his Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff.
Jean-Mary has ties to the Jaguars in assistant head coach/linebackers coach Charlie Strong, with whom he worked with at Texas and South Florida.
Jean-Mary was retained by Michigan’s coaching staff despite a defensive shakeup this offseason in moves that were spearheaded by the firing of coordinator Don Brown. He elected to remain with the Wolverines under Harbaugh and new coordinator Mike Macdonald.
Meyer made the jump to the NFL ranks in mid-January after two years away from coaching football. His history with the Wolverines is well-documented at this point, but he might have one more swipe at Michigan left in him.
The Wolverines’ staff was made official in the last week or so. But after a brief courtship with other linebacker coach candidates before bringing back Jean-Mary, this might be worth keeping an eye on.
