The Michigan Wolverines have lost another member of the football program to the transfer portal, this time in the form of linebacker Ben VanSumeren. He posted a video to Twitter on Friday morning announcing that his time in Ann Arbor has come to an end.

The development was first mentioned on Thursday morning by Chris Balas of The Wolverine on the site’s premium message boards.
VanSumeren began his Michigan career at fullback and running back before transitioning to linebacker prior to last season. He was able to crack the lineup as a pass-rushing linebacker, but his time on the field was inconsistent. With a scheme change coming defensively, it appears his fit in the new look has come into question and he has decided to explore other opportunities as a result.
Alex VanSumeren, a four-star defensive tackle in 2022 class, announced Thursday night that he had decommitted from Michigan, which fueled the speculation that a move was coming from his older brother.
The story is developing.
