Former Michigan Wolverines quarterback Joe Milton has found his next home with reports indicating he will join the Tennessee Volunteers. A quick search of the UT student directory shows Milton as a registered and enrolled student at the university.
Milton started the 2020 season with a bang for the Wolverines in a blowout win over Minnesota, but he and the offense were unable to carry over that performance to the rest of the season. He started five of six games last year, throwing for 1,077 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
Milton came into Michigan as a four-star recruit in the 2018 class. Long seen as a prospect with a big arm that needed to be honed in and developed, Milton was given his opportunity to grow into the job last offseason. However, touch on his throws and accuracy was a problem, as well as other execution problems offensively.
Given Milton’s ties to the Orlando area and Josh Heupel coming over to coach the Vols from UCF, this is a pairing that makes sense. We will see if Milton is able to unlock his skill-set in the SEC East.
