WATCH: Freshman Feature Episode 6 - Cristian Dixon

Breaking down the stats, metrics, scouting, projection and more for the true freshman wideout

With recent departures of Xavier Worthy and Giles Jackson, some depth at the wide receiver position opened up considerably for the Michigan Wolverines. In episode four of Freshman Feature, we covered fellow freshman wideout Andrel Anthony. The other early enrollee, Cristian Dixon, brings a slightly different skillset to the game and will look to provide that depth heading into 2021.

What did I see? In a phrase: “hard to tell.” Dixon transferred to powerhouse program Mater Dei after his sophomore year and struggled to break through the list of other Power 5 level wideouts already on the roster. He did get over 600 yards and six scores in his junior campaign, but it was an underwhelming season that saw 247Sports drop him out of their top 100 wide receivers in the class.

Now it’s possible it simply wasn’t a good fit at Mater Dei. Those things happen and would obviously hinder his production. I do like his physicality, ability to win 50/50 balls and his catch radius. I still have Anthony ahead of him on my personal depth chart, but time will tell if Dixon proves that wrong.
