It’s natural for Michigan fans to think of Donovan Edwards when considering the running back position of the future as a part of the 2021 recruiting class. But the Michigan Wolverines went with a two-back approach this year, also pulling the three-star pledge of Tavierre Dunlap out of the lone-star state.
While his athleticism may not jump off the page at you, he provides the “thunder” to Edwards “lightning.” At 6-foot, 195 pounds, he’s going to serve the needs as a bulkier back in short yardage situations, with the ceiling of a guy many Michigan fans have grown to respect, Hassan Haskins.
Like Haskins, it’s uncertain what kind of NFL potential Dunlap has without top flight athleticism. But there’s always a place on a roster for a dependable, consistent, plus-vision back on a college team, which both Haskins has proven to be, and Dunlap seemingly can provide.
Check out my live-stream tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST where we go through the film in more detail and analyze the skillset he brings to the Wolverines in 2021 and beyond.
