With getting Ikechukwu Iwunnah on board, the Michigan Wolverines have chosen a recruit that describes the term “flyer” exceptionally well. A guy with an incredibly tantalizing physical stature and flashes eyebrow raising plays, Iwunnah is a recruit who simply needs some marinating before he finds himself on Michigan’s defensive line in the Big House.
At 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds, he’s already a great size for a strongside end in the presumed 3-4 defense the Wolverines will be going with moving forward. If he continues to bulk up, he could add some great versatility to the interior defensive line, as well. With a great wingspan and his above-average height for a defensive lineman, he shows solid leverage and stack and shed ability. At this point, it’s just about getting his technique refined and getting him a bit more consistent.
With fellow defensive linemen in four-star players Rayshaun Benny and George Rooks, taking a guy like Iwunnah makes a lot of sense for this class, and is one of my most underrated players of this class.
