WATCH: Freshman Feature Episode 18 - Rod Moore

New, comments

Breaking down the stats, metrics, scouting, projection and more for the true freshman safety.

Sometimes I look at a recruit and think “alright, what am I missing?” Rod Moore gives the Michigan Wolverines a solid free safety prospect with some cornerback skills to boot. Posting solid track times in the 200M and 60M sprints, he brings above average speed to the position, as well as excellent ball skills, anticipation, and is willing to stick his nose in run support.

Despite a senior year riddled with some injuries, he played through them, showing he’s also a pretty tough player mentally. Going through his scouting reports, the main areas of improvement note the need to add weight and some room to get a little more explosive. Add all of that together, and it seems like he’d be rated a little higher than outside of the top 500 overall.

Rod Moore is the type of prospect who brings a high floor as a safety and an intriguing skillset that could prove to be valuable as a nickel safety, if needed in man-to-man coverage. He reads more like a top-350 or so recruit, to me, but watch the film and let me know your thoughts!
