Johnson is a three-star prospect and the 20th ranked defensive end in the 2015 class, according to the 247 Composite Rankings. Michigan and Florida State were the two teams battling it out for his services heading into Wednesday.
He was offered by Jim Harbaugh's staff on Jan. 15 and they were immediately able to secure an official visit for that same weekend, where he was able to meet the new staff and check out the campus for the first time. His primary recruiters for the Wolverines were defensive coordinator DJ Durkin and defensive line coach Greg Mattison.
Johnson is Michigan's 13th commit of the 2015 class. Michigan has a defensive end commit already in three-star prospect Reuben Jones, who was the new staff's first committed player a few weeks back.
