Michigan wound up with a running back after all in their 2015 class with the surprising announcement that Karan Higdon (Sarasota, Florida) would be flipping his commitment to the Wolverines from Iowa.
Higdon is a three-star prospect and the 40th ranked running back in the 2015 class, according to the 247 Composite.
At 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, he has solid size and should be able to add some bulk to his frame before he hits campus. He runs like a back that is much bigger and appears to be pretty durable. He runs with a low pad level and is more than willing to put his shoulder down to try and get the extra yard.
Higdon is a definite north/south runner. He shows good patience and hits an opening almost as soon as he sees it. While he's not exactly the speediest of backs, he displays quick footwork and is more shifty than elusive.
I don't see him playing right away with guys like Derrick Green, Deveon Smith, Ty Isaac and Drake Johnson in front of him on the depth chart, but if he can find a way to get bigger and faster he can be a nice back in the rotation in time.
