Update: We've added a quick analysis of Michael Onwenu, which can be found here.
There were quite a few whispers of a possible commitment throughout Tuesday, but now those whispers have turned to cheers.
Michigan football received a pledge from 2016 offensive lineman Michael Onwenu (Detroit, Michigan) on Tuesday evening, according to his Twitter account.
Happy to announce I've just committed to the University Of Michigan 〽️
— Michael Onwenu (@_MXKEY) June 3, 2015
Onwenu is a four-star prospect and the seventh-ranked offensive guard in the class, per the 247 Composite.
The commitment is Michigan's seventh of the 2016 recruiting cycle, joining four-star quarterback Brandon Peters, four-star running back Matt Falcon, three-star running back Kingston Davis, three-star fullback David Reese, four-star offensive tackle Erik Swenson and three-star linebacker Dele Harding.
Onwenu is the third player from the state of Michigan to commit to the Wolverines during this cycle, along with Falcon and Reese. Harbaugh and company will look to reestablish grabbing the top prospects in the state starting with this class moving forward.
