June has been a hot month for Michigan.
Well yeah, weather-wise, too, but we are referring specifically to the recruiting trail, where the path has been paved with several commitments in the last few weeks or so.
The latest came in the form of 2016 safety Devin Gil (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), who committed to the Wolverines on Friday.
Gil is the second member of the "Flanagan Trio" to join the 2016 class, along with fellow safety Josh Metellus. The third, linebacker Devin Bush Jr., could very well drop as well soon. Stanford Samuels, one of 2017's top defensive backs, is also teammates with the above three, so Michigan may very well have found its new pipeline.
In terms of what Gil brings on the field, we did a brief analysis of his skill set over the weekend, which can be found here.
Here's a snippet:
When I look at Gil on film, I truly believe that Michigan has just brought in a potential difference maker in the secondary down the road.
Gil does a lot of things well. He is very good in pass coverage and always seems to be around the football or know where it is going. He is patient and uses his vision to find his way to the ball and make plays. He has soft hands for a defensive back prospect.
He has good size at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds and will continue to grow, obviously. Gil has good speed and a nose for the football in run support and also shows the ability to blitz effectively.
Gil can play, and it would not surprise me to see him shoot up in the rankings with a strong senior year. Regardless, Michigan coaches have a good prospect to try and mold into a great player on the back end of the defense.
I am higher on Gil than most, it appears. Regardless, Michigan has address the safety position now and they can move on to recruit other positions of need.
Quansah releases top ten, commits to Duke
Class of 2016 linebacker target Koby Quansah, Connecticut's number-one player, released his top ten schools via Twitter on Saturday night, where Michigan made the cut.
I've enjoyed the ride, but now it's time for me to narrow things down and focus on my future. #Top10 pic.twitter.com/71DxKc45jO

Less than a day later, he announced his pledge to David Cutcliffe (you know, the guy Gil Brandt said turned down the Michigan job) and Duke University.
