Wednesday Michigan Recruiting Roundup: Elite Prospect Making Return Visit In August

In this edition, we take a look at the top prospect on the board returning next month, an offensive line target that says Michigan still leads and more.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

We are currently in a dead/quiet period throughout most of July, but there has been no shortage of newsworthy items to hit on early this week.

Perhaps the biggest development so far comes in the form of elite 2016 defensive tackle Rashan Gary and other prospects from New Jersey/Philadelphia making a return visit to Michigan in early August for the BBQ at the Big House event, according to Adam Friedman of Rivals.

The pipeline to the East Coast is strong right now with commitments from Devery Hamilton, Ron Johnson, Brad Hawkins and Sean McKeon, to name a few. Again, nobody is expecting Gary to pull the trigger on Michigan during this visit, but anytime he steps on campus from now until National Signing Day, it will be newsworthy.

Though as we stand today, I expect Gary to be the cherry on top of Michigan's already impressive 2016 class.

Davis says Michigan still leads

Four-star 2016 offensive guard Terrance Davis (Hyattsville, Maryland) told Scout on Tuesday that despite schools still coming after him pretty hard, the Wolverines remain his leader.

Davis will be a part of the class before it is all said and done, barring an unforseen development. He has built a good rapport with current commitments and always chimes in when something is going on at Michigan. I would be very surprised if he did not end up a Wolverine and solidify what might be the best haul of offensive lineman in the country.

Peters puts on recruiting hat

Michigan 2016 quarterback commit Brandon Peters (Avon, Indiana) is already in Beaverton, Oregon for the Elite 11 Finals, and it appears he is out there to do more than just throw the football.

He has been very active as a recruiter for Michigan in this class, and it does not appear like he will stop any time soon.

"I was talking to coach the other day," Peters said. "He said we might get Ahmir Mitchell and maybe (Naseir Upshur). Also I think Devin Bush Jr."

Whatever Peters and the Wolverines have been up to, it has been working. Fifteen commitments in the span of a month is nothing to scoff at.

Eifler making his college choice Thursday

Four-star 2016 linebacker Camilo Eifler (Oakland, California) will make his college decision this Thursday, according to his Twitter account.

Michigan is in the mix, but likely is not in serious consideration here. It would be a surprise if he chose the Wolverines later this week.

That will do it for this edition. Check back in Friday for the latest roundup of Michigan football recruiting news and more.
