Michigan Football Recruiting: 2016 4* WR Ahmir Mitchell Commits To The Wolverines

The Wolverines pulled in their 23rd commitment of the 2016 cycle in the form of the four-star athlete from New Jersey.

Update: Our quick analysis on Mitchell is now live and can be found here.

The Michigan Wolverines received good news on the recruiting trail on Thursday with a commitment from 2016 wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell (Egg Harbor City, New Jersey).

Oh, and he did it by flying a plane over Atlantic City, according to a video announcement released by Bleacher Report.

Mitchell is a four-star prospect and the sixth-ranked athlete in the country for 2016, per 247's Composite Ranking system.

He was in Ann Arbor on an unofficial visit last month after visiting Ohio State for their "Friday Night Lights" event the day before. The two schools were the finalists for his services, with Michigan firmly in the lead for quite some time and him not having a committable offer from the Buckeyes.

Mitchell's commitment gives the Wolverines yet another member of their 2016 recruiting class from the state of New Jersey, joining a pair of four-star prospects in wide receiver Brad Hawkins and defensive end Ron Johnson, both from Camden.

Michigan will look to keep their success on the pipeline up with elite defensive tackle Rashan Gary (Paramus, NJ) still on the board. He is not expected to make a decision until after the football season.

This story is developing.
