Three-star cass of 2017 running back/linebacker Antjuan Simmons (Ann Arbor, Michigan) released his top 11 schools on Monday morning, where the Michigan Wolverines missed the cut.

At first glance, some would see it a as a surprise that the hometown program located right across the street from his high school would not be included, but there is more to it.

Simmons spoke to Maize n Brew following his trimmed list of schools and explained why the Wolverines were not on it.

"I didn't have a good enough relationship with the staff yet," he said. "They're still in the hunt if they try."

He added that does not mean they are completely out of it, but that the staff will have to show more of an interest in him moving forward. Simmons says that Michigan has the advantage of being "home" and that he will certainly consider them should they choose to pursue him harder.

The schools he says have shown the most interest are Notre Dame and Ohio State, where he has been in contact with Greg Schiano.
