Richardson says in his Twitter statement that he is moving on to "explore my options to better my future academically and athletically."
Richardson is a three-star prospect and the 85th-ranked cornerback in the class, according to the 247 Composite.
He is the second cornerback in the last few days to open things up and leave Michigan's 2016 cycle, joining three-star prospect Sir Patrick Scott, who is the 58th-ranked corner in the class.
Michigan fans looking for good news on the recruiting trail, namely at defensive back, will be paying attention to David Long's announcement on Thursday evening and following LaVert Hill's recruitment closely. The Wolverines are in good position to land both.
This story is developing.
