Quick Analysis: What 2016 DL Michael Dwumfour Brings to Michigan Football

The Wolverines nab another from New Jersey to build that pipeline and add to the defensive line.

Michigan added another member to its 2016 class in the form of defensive lineman Michael Dwumfour (Wayne, New Jersey), which adds to the growing list of players defecting from the Garden State to Ann Arbor.

Dwumfour is a three-star prospect and the 58th-ranked defensive tackle in the 2016 class, according to the 247 Composite. He is also very good friends with Rashan Gary and a former high school teammate of running back signee Kareem Walker.

Dwumfour stands at 6-foot-2, 285 pounds and has room to grow even more from there physically.

The thing that stands out the most about him is his first step at the snap and just how explosive he is. In that regard, the comparisons to a player like Willie Henry certainly apply. One of the knocks on him is that he may not exactly bring it on every play, but there is certainly a lot to like here and a fair amount of untapped potential.

Dwumfour was one of the standout performers at the New Jersey satellite camp over the summer and the Michigan staff noticed and has kept contact with him.

He has to work on his pad level and improve his technique, but has the look of a guy that can step in a few years down the road and play nose tackle.
