Michigan in the Mix for Nation's Second-Ranked Player
According to Steve Wiltfong of Wolverine247 (FREE), several top-ranked teams are in contention to land 2017 4* DT Jay Tufele's (UT) services, including the Wolverines. Also in the mix are Ohio State, USC, Washington, and Utah.
Tufele will take his official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend for the homecoming game against Illinois. When asked about their game against Rutgers, Tufele stated,
"I watched their game two weeks ago, it was amazing. I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Coach (Greg) Mattison came down to our game last week. He's pumped. I'm so excited to be down there and see life in Ann Arbor and everything, and get to know all the players and get to know the coaches as well and see what happens from there."
He is the third-ranked DT in his class and 57th overall in the nation.

The 247 Crystal Ball is trending in favor of the Wolverines for several top targets, including 2017 four-star tackle Chuck Filiaga (TX). As of now, Michigan is currently tied with USC to land the OT.
Filiaga visited Michigan for the Wisconsin game and was very impressed, per Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247 (FREE). Read here for the other tackles that Michigan has established leads for.
Wolverines High on 2018 Top100 DE
Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247 (FREE) has reported that the Wolverines are heavily recruiting 2018 four-star weak-side defensive end Nik Bonitto (FL). Along with Michigan, Tennessee and Miami are also thought to be in the early contention.
In the article, Bonitto stated,
"Michigan is just playing on another level right now," he said. "I can't wait to see how the rest of their season goes. They play with a lot of intensity and energy. I like the defense."
He is the third-ranked DE in the 2018 cycle.
