Michigan football landed the commitment of class of 2017 defensive back Jaylen Kelly-Powell (Detroit, Michigan) on Tuesday morning. The Cass Tech HS standout tweeted out his announcement in what has been more of a “when, not if” recruitment.

Kelly-Powell is a four-star prospect and the 21st-ranked safety in the nation, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He is the fourth-ranked player in the state of Michigan.
His commitment gives the Wolverines 19 players so far in their 2017 class with still many of their top targets still on the board. It will be an interesting race to signing day, but Michigan can rest easy knowing one of their top targets has officially joined the class.
