Michigan made the biggest splash on the recruiting trail on National Signing Day with the announcement that five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary (Paramus, New Jersey) is bring his talents to Ann Arbor.

Gary is the consensus top prospect in the country and an immediate difference maker when he hits campus this summer.

At 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, Gary is already a physical specimen without ever stepping inside of a college weight room. He looks the part and already plays the part of a disruptive force along the defensive line.

There is really not a glaring weakness on film. The effort is there on every play. He has an explosive first step and exceptional quickness with his hands and pass rush moves. He is able to convert speed to power impressively and has a great punch off the snap.

Gary has the look of a player that can line up in any spot along the front four. He absolutely will be a day-one contributor for this team and may already be the leader in the clubhouse to step in to the spot that Willie Henry is vacating by moving on to the NFL.

This is a huge, huge get for Michigan. Now we wait and see if he can live up to expectations.
