The most recent member of Michigan's 2016 recruiting class is Lavert Hill (Detroit, Michigan), who announced on National Signing Day that he is coming to Ann Arbor.
He is the brother of Michigan safety Delano Hill. It is apparent when watching Lavert's film that good defensive back play runs in the family.
Hill is a four-star prospect and the 12h-ranked cornerback in the class of 2016, per the 247 Composite rankings.
At 5-10, 170 pounds, Hill has good size and athleticism for the position. He shows good instincts and his eyes are always in the backfield focusing on the quarterback. He is quick enough to transition from tight coverage to run with receivers down the field and shows the ability to shadow receivers in man-to-man coverage..
In time, Hill can be a pretty good piece to add to the secondary once he is caught up with everything. He has the chance to play early and is a perfect fit in this defense. Michigan has to be very pleased with the haul of defensive backs in this class and adding Hill to David Long, Khaleke Hudson and others.
