Nelson said regarding a leader, "I think there may be one, but I am not going to say it right now since it's too early."
The defensive back from University of Detroit Jesuit High School has offers from the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State, Northwestern, Boston College, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Miami (OH), Nebraska, Penn State and Wisconsin. He is still waiting on offers from Minnesota, Purdue, and Western Michigan.
"I'm kind of interested in Michigan," Nelson mentioned. "They have not contacted me recently."
The thing that makes Nelson such a good player are his versatility, football IQ, and ball skills. The main thing Nelson will need to work on is getting stronger, faster and more ready for the speed of college football. He should transition nicely.
The three-star recruit said he is looking for a "great program, good academics and a school that can give me a chance to play in the NFL." Nelson claimed Michigan "could definitely" provide those things.
Nelson will look to take the Detroit Jesuit deep into the playoffs and try to lead his team in the right direction. He has a shot to win Mr. Football, but would have to Ambry Thomas, Corey Malone, Antjuan Simmons and Jaylen Kelly-Powell, just to name a few.
As for playing for Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, he said, "It would be great. He is a great coach and has done some great things."
