Michigan recruiting visitors list for the Indiana game

The last home game of the season is here, meaning this will be the last chance the Michigan staff has to show off the game day experience for 2019 recruits.

There will be a glaring absence on the sidelines, as Eric Gray, who made plans to visit earlier this week, canceled his trip. After saying he’d be on campus twice this season and then it falling through both times, it’s finally time to say that this ship has sailed. If he has higher priorities than visiting the school to which he’s currently committed, he’s not seriously considering staying in the class.

It’s not all bad news, though! There are plenty of intriguing targets scheduled to be in Ann Arbor. This will still be a solid recruiting weekend, despite the lackluster opponent.

Commits

Zach Charbonnet - 4-star, #100 overall, #6 RB

This will be Charbonnet’s first visit to campus since his official visit in June. Unlike Gray, who also hasn’t been on campus in the same time period, Charbonnet has been completely solid, telling reporters he’ll be signing in December and enrolling early.

David Ojabo - 4-star, #309 overall, #23 SDE

Yet another prospect who hasn’t visited since June, Ojabo has also worried some with his quietness. This visit, which will be his official, should assuage those concerns. Every indication points to Ojabo signing with the Wolverines in December.

2019

Jalen Perry - 4-star, #172 overall, #19 CB

After visiting unofficially for the Wisconsin game, Perry will be back up for an official visit about a month later. This is a big development for the Georgia prospect, who can now be considered a serious possibility to land in the class.

Amauri Peseck-Hickson - 3-star, #924 overall, #74 ATH

Peseck-Hickson became known on the recruiting trail a few weeks ago when he was offered by Michigan, which became only his second scholarship after Missouri State. The versatile H-back/safety immediately set an official visit date for Dec. 8, but just yesterday announced he’ll be visiting this weekend, as well. A run of crystal balls after this new revelation probably means he’s a take for the staff.

Dawand Jones - 3-star, #930 overall, #83 OT (247Sports’ ranking)

The absolutely massive Jones, out of Ben Davis in Indiana, has been on fire lately on the recruiting trail. The 6-foot-8, 360-pounder has picked up offers from Florida State and USC in the past week and took an official to the latter last weekend. Michigan hasn’t offered yet, but could during his unofficial this weekend. Jones is also holds basketball scholarships from a few MAC-level schools.

Brock Horne - 3-star, #1,387 overall, #60 ILB

Horne, who hails from Romeo, just received a preferred walk-on offer from Michigan this week. He’s more high-profile than most walk-on targets, and holds several MAC offers. Michigan State could be close to offering him an actual scholarship.

Mike Harding - 3-star, #2,005 overall, #84 TE (247Sports’ ranking)

An in-state prospect, Harding is probably a preferred walk-on target, but he does hold offers from a handful of MAC schools.

2020

Miles Brooks - 4-star, #164 overall, #13 CB

The early junior standout has an impressive offer list, including Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State and Virginia Tech. He’ll be looking to add one from Michigan this weekend, his first trip to Ann Arbor. The Florida native has one crystal ball pick for Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Jakob James - 3-star, #595 overall, #64 OT (247 ranking)

James is making his second trip to Michigan this season after visiting for the Wisconsin game. He has several Power 5 offers, including LSU, West Virginia, Pitt, Missouri, Iowa State, Louisville and Boston College. He was in Boston last weekend, where he was clearly impressed and picked up a couple crystal balls, his only two so far.

Trey Leroux - 3-star, #597 overall, #65 OT (247 ranking)

Another especially large young man, Leroux stands 6-foot-8 and 320 pounds. The Ohio native camped at Michigan this summer, but doesn’t hold an offer. Purdue, Cincinnati and Toledo have pulled the trigger already, though.

Jared Bvycznski - 3-star, #646 overall, #69 OT (247Sports’ ranking)

Can I buy a vowel, Alex? Rounding out this smattering of similarly ranked offensive lineman is Bvycznski, an Ohio native who has offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Wake Forest and Cincinnati, where his older brother plays. He’s visited Ohio State and Michigan State already this season.

Tate Mackenzie - unranked OT

The third absolute unit to be on campus, Mackenzie is 6-foot-8 and 310 pounds. He’ll be making a short trip, as he attends high school in Ypsilanti. Toledo is the only school to offer so far. One of his assistant coaches there is former Michigan defensive lineman Will Heininger.

Kyle Arnoldi - unranked OG

Another in-state lineman, the Walled Lake Northern native has an offer from Cincinnati so far, but that’s it. He performed well against his Michigan peers at the Elite Big Man Camp in February.

2021

Greg Crippen - unranked OG

Despite not being ranked, Crippen is on track to be an elite prospect when the focus is on his class. As the only sophomore lineman starting on IMG’s traveling squad, Crippen has shown he has what it takes to compete with the best teams in the country. In Michigan’s favor is Crippen’s previous school, Milton Academy, the home of 2020 target Kalel Mullings and Don Brown territory. This will be Crippen’s third visit to Michigan. He holds offers from the Wolverines, Purdue and Boston College.

Robert Army - unranked WR/DB

Army is a local prospect playing at Detroit Renaissance High School. He just received an offer from Central Michigan and says he’s receiving interest from Penn State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and obviously Michigan. He’ll be a name to keep an eye on as it looks like his recruitment might blow up soon.

As you can see from the players listed, this will be an above-average visit weekend despite an inferior opponent. The Wolverines can possibly take the lead for Jalen Perry. Plus, they’ll be making inroads with a plethora of large young linemen. The staff will be leaving it all on the table as their last home game experience of the season.
