Michigan makes top list for several 2019 prospects

Things are heating up.

The Michigan Wolverines’ coaching staff aren’t done with the 2019 class despite the early signing period nearing closer and closer. In fact, they are probably putting in just as much work as they were during the regular season.

Three players from the 2019 class officially put Michigan in their top lists over the past 24 hours — one in-state and two highly-ranked prospects still left on Michigan’s board.

4-star OT Trevor Keegan

The No. 1 player in the state of Illinois, Keegan is just coming off a visit to Penn State. However, it looks like the visit didn’t matter all that much, as a run of crystal ball picks in Michigan’s favor have given the Wolverines a 94-6 lead, with the six being an outdated Ohio State pick.

At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Keegan would be a welcome addition to an already impressive offensive line class. With Juwann Bushell-Beatty graduating this year, and Ben Bredeson and Jon Runyan heading out the door after the 2019 season, it will be vital for Michigan to have as many young up-and-coming offensive linemen as possible.

We will find out soon where he is heading, as his commitment date is this Friday.

4-star WR Cornelius Johnson

For a long time, Johnson was regarded as a Stanford lean, but the Cardinal may acquire the services of another highly-ranked wide receiver, 4-star Elijah Higgins. Due to this development, a Michigan crystal ball was put in for Johnson, with another “cloudy” crystal ball. Clearly, this recruitment has been shaken up a bit.

At 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, this is the kind of receiver Michigan needs. With the other offensive skill players being either running backs or shifty, smaller receivers, Johnson would be the perfect way to close out Michigan’s recruitment of the position for the 2019 class.

We will also find out very soon if Michigan can capitalize on this recruitment, as Johnson moved up his commitment date to Dec. 19, which just so happens to be the first day of the early signing period.

3-star ATH Darius Robinson

His final four include Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

All the recruiting services will have him listed as a defensive end, but Michigan is actually recruiting him as an athlete. More than likely, he would transition to the offensive side of the ball and play tight end.

This is an intriguing recruitment to say the least. Michigan already has one tight end committed to the class — 4-star Erick All — and two tight ends were taken in last year’s class. Needless to say, this is strange and, if he commits to Michigan, we will just have to wait and see if this pans out for everybody.
