Here’s some news to brighten everyone’s Friday evening even more: Illinois 4-star Trevor Keegan committed to the Wolverines tonight over his other finalists Georgia and Penn State.
Michigan has been in on Keegan for a very long time. There have been some wavering in the Wolverine’s position, including strong pushes by Ohio State and Georgia, but in the end Michigan stayed consistently in the race and won out.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound tackle took his official visit to Ann Arbor for the Wisconsin game. He then took a worrying official visit to Georgia, but concerns were assuaged when he made a surprising mid-week visit back to Michigan to check out practice and see how Ed Warinner coached.
In the last couple weeks before his announcement, the crystal ball picks rolled in for the Maize and Blue, even as he officially visited Penn State last weekend.
Keegan is ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois, the 17th-best offensive tackle and 163rd overall.
He joins Nolan Rumler, Trente Jones, Karsen Barnhart, Zach Carpenter and Jack Stewart as the sixth member of the offensive line in this class, and fourth 4-star.
Stay tuned over the next few days, as other top targets, including Zach Harrison, Cornelius Johnson and Kalen DeLoach make their decisions during the early signing period.
