Michigan Monday Crootin’ asks if Michigan is forming a 2020 Arizona pipeline?

After AZ 3-star JD Johnson committed over the weekend, how many more prospects are coming from the desert?

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Krazy Kwanzaa. Happy Holidays, folks.

It’s the time for gift exchange, and Michigan received one from Phoenix, Ariz. quarterback JD Johnson this past weekend. The 3-star chose the Wolverines over Arizona and South Carolina, among others.

Jim Harbaugh and his staff are in hot pursuit of two other elite prospects from the desert in 4-stars Bijan Robinson and Lathan Ransom.

Johnson’s recent commitment could open up their recruitments. Ransom, a safety out of Salpointe Catholic in Tucson, indicated to Maize n Brew he’s friends with Johnson. Furthermore, he’s going to give Michigan a longer look because of that relationship.

Standing 6-foot-2, 187 pounds, he ranks as the No. 217 player nationally according to the 247Sports composite.

Robinson, the nation’s third-best running back and No. 30 player overall, per 247Sports, seems to be the tougher sell. His social media shows off his connection to the hometown Arizona Wildcats.

With that said, the Johnson commitment could have a domino effect on the other two Arizonans. West Coast recruiter Jay Harbaugh had a lot of success reeling in a pair of California 4-stars in Zach Charbonnet and Giles Jackson last cycle.

“What I like about Michigan is coach Jay Harbaugh,” Robinson said to 247Sports back in September. “He was the man and was just telling me things straight up. I like how he really got to know me and was easy to talk to since he’s a younger coach.”

Both Salpointe Catholic products officially visited for the Southern Methodist game on Sep. 15.

Keep an eye on both recruitments. If Harbaugh can continue to foster the relationship with Robinson, or take advantage of the renewed interest from Ransom, one commitment could turn into two pretty quickly.
