Welcome everyone to this week’s edition of the Wednesday Michigan Recruiting Roundup!
With the coaches scattered across the country attending camps, it was a bit of a slow week, but this is the quiet before the storm. With their camp on the 18th and the huge recruiting weekend on the 22nd, there will be plenty of news coming your way in the next few weeks.
Let’s get to the news.
4-star running back sets official date
Michigan is in the top two or three for several top running backs for the 2019 cycle, but may not be the leaders in any of them. They are looking to change that on 4-star Eric Gray’s official visit, which will take place on June 22, per The Michigan Insider’s Steve Wiltfong ($).
The Wolverines recently vamped up their efforts on Gray, who ran for over 3,000 yards and scored a ridiculous 45 touchdowns as a junior. The Tennessee native has 67 percent of his Crystal Balls to Mississippi State, but that may change if they land another Michigan target, John Emery Jr, as insiders increasingly think they will.
Michigan has taken this opportunity to pounce, as they should. Gray will join a bevy of top targets on his visit, which will give him an opportunity to forge relationships with current commits and players.
Michigan makes the cut for in-state receiver
“Michigan made it because it’s Michigan,” Mosley said “It’s one of the top schools in the country both academically and athletically. You are going to be on the biggest stage possible, so that really interested me. They came in early offering me, which meant a lot and then my coach, he went to Michigan too.”
Mosley doesn’t plan on taking an official to either Michigan or Michigan State because he wants to use them on places further away to cover travel expenses.
“As of now, I would like to save my officials for the schools that are farther away and harder to get to because I can always just go to Michigan or Michigan State driving there,” said the economical Mosley.
He plans to make his decision in August. The Spartans are the team to beat now, holding all of Mosley’s seven Crystal Ball predictions.
Michigan pursuing several top cornerbacks
Not fazed by the Te’Cory Couch decommitment, which many had seen as a foregone conclusion, the Michigan staff has been in contact with a handful of cornerback prospects to replace him.

The most coveted player is Akeem Dent, a 5-star Florida State commit. I talked about him a couple of weeks ago, as he is talking about taking some visits this summer, and Michigan is a schools that has interested him.
Dent is not the only Florida State cornerback commit Michigan is going after. 3-star Renardo Green has also been talking with the staff and seriously considering a visit.
Finally, Jalen Perry, a 4-star Georgia commit, is also being pursued. The staff is working on getting the Wolverines included in his summer visit schedule.
Given that all these prospects are committed elsewhere, it would be a long shot to land any of them, but that won’t stop Michigan from trying.
4-star safety recaps visit
“It was awesome,” Allen said. “I loved it. I took a tour of the football facility, met with the coaches, went around campus and saw the Big House.”
Michigan has not offered him yet, but if they did “they would definitely be one of the schools on my top list,” according to Allen.
Allen attends IMG Academy in Florida, a school Michigan is very familiar with. Current Wolverines Cesar Ruiz and Jordan Anthony attended IMG, as well as commit Charles Thomas.
That’s all for the week! Be on the lookout for more recruiting stories in the coming weeks, as there will be a lot to discuss, and of course make sure to check back every Wednesday for another roundup!
