Class of 2020 4-Star DT Denver Warren was the Michigan Wolverines’ second commitment on Monday, and their third in the last two days. Warren selected Michigan ahead of Cincinnati, Illinois, Minnesota and Penn State.
Warren is also the third commit from the class of 2020 joining 3-Star WR Kalil Brannon and 3-Star CB Andre Seldon.
Warren will easily jump to the top of this small list of recruits heading to Ann Arbor, as he is the 22nd rated DT and the No. 5 recruit from Illinois in the class.
In an interview with our own David Noe, Warren also mentioned what drew Don Brown and Jim Harbaugh to him saying, “They said they love how I can change direction so quickly, how fast I am off the ball and my effort through the whole play.”
It’s safe to say the coaches from Michigan were impressed with what Warren has to offer, and with good reason. At 6-foot-3, 300 lbs, Warren has great size for the position. He uses his strength to move around offensive linemen and find his way to a player in the backfield. His size also makes him capable of plugging up rushing lanes as well.
The Aurora, Illinois native also has an effective spin move and can swat hands of offensive lineman out of the way to create separation.
Warren has the ability to play both defensive tackle and defensive end. He is great at tracking down players and takes effective angles to them. This pressure has the ability to force mistakes by ball handlers.
Talking to Noe, Warren continued, “My first trip to Ann Arbor is amazing, I cannot believe my eyes and the things I’ve learned about the university, much further than football. Most overall, what impressed me was the academic part of the program. Very, very impressed.”
It seems his visit to Ann Arbor a few weeks ago is what put Michigan above the rest of the competition.
