While a lot of the buzz for the BBQ at the Big House this past weekend was understandably on uncommitted targets, a large portion of players already in the fold also were in attendance.
One of those in the latter category is 4-star offensive tackle Trente Jones, who has been committed since February. Jones was joined by all four of Michigan’s other offensive line commits for the BBQ.
Talking with Maize n Brew about what it was like meeting with the linemen as a group, Jones spoke of a deep connection.
“It was unreal how it felt. I felt as if it was meant to be we all connected as if we knew each other for years upon years,” he said.
Jones’ favorite part of the trip was the “training,” which included on-field drills, as well as “seeing the coaches again.”
He added, “I love them and they love me.”
As for Ed Warinner, his specific position coach, Jones had high praise.
“He is a great coach who will make me the best I can be,” Jones said
When asked about any uncommitted targets he was recruiting himself at the BBQ, Jones didn’t give any names, but waxed philosophical.
“Some guys, but I don’t push it too hard. If it’s not a right fit it’s not, but when they know it’s right I usually know,” he said.
Jones is the No. 294 player in the nation, as well as the 31st-ranked offensive tackle, per the 247Sports composite.
