2020 APB JuTahn McClain offered by Michigan after 7-touchdown performance

McClain, the high school teammate of 2019 tight end commit Erick All, had a monster first week of his junior season.

Three rushing touchdowns. Three receiving touchdowns. One kick return touchdown.

2020 3-star all-purpose back JuTahn McClain led Fairfield High School in Ohio to a 49-21 victory last week. But depending on who you ask, that may not have been his biggest accomplishment last week.

He also received a big-time offer from the Michigan Wolverines.

“I was in shock. It was out of the blue. I really was not expecting it. I had to hurry and call my mom,” McClain told Maize n Brew.

So what did his mom say when he told her the good news?

“I honestly don’t know (laughs), she burst out in excitement. Anything was coming out of her mouth,” he said.

Clearly the 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back and his mother were ecstatic, even though he admits he has never spoken to any U-M coaches. But one person he has spoken about Michigan with is teammate and current 2019 3-star tight end commit Erick All, who was actually the one to give McClain the good news.

“(All) told me that he loves the program,” McClain said. “He says the coaching staff is great, coach Harbaugh is a really cool coach and person. He speaks very highly about Michigan!”

It seems like All may be doing some recruiting for the Wolverines, which is great news if McClain can replicate his seven-touchdown performance in the future at the Big House.

As of now, the only other program McClain claims is interested in him is Miami (Ohio), even though he holds offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Maryland and Louisville.

McClain plans on getting out to Ann Arbor for a visit in the future, but isn’t sure exactly when that will happen.

McClain is the No. 5 all-purpose back, No. 23 player in Ohio and No. 641 overall player, according to 247Sports. He does not have a composite score yet, but his ranking has a really good chance to go up if he keeps putting up monster performances.
