Just like last week, Michigan is facing another weak out of conference Group of 5 opponent. So, similarly to the Western Michigan visitors list, it will be heavy on younger, in-state prospects, with current commits sprinkled in.
Except for one huge exception.
This week, 5-star safety Daxton Hill will be traveling to Ann Arbor for his official visit. This will be the staff’s best and most likely last shot to blow him away and put themselves ahead in this race.
There wasn’t supposed to be much action last week, but three prospects ended up committing, so you never know what will happen on these trips. Let’s get to the list to see who will witness Michigan take on SMU live this Saturday.
2019
Daxton Hill - 5-star, #12 overall, #1 S
I partially covered Hill above. If Alabama and Michigan are really his top two teams, you have to like the position Michigan is in. Hill already used his official visit to Tuscaloosa in June, so Michigan will get the last crack, which is always beneficial.
Cade McNamara - 4-star, #274 overall, #9 Pro-style QB
A recent development that will help in Hill’s recruitment is McNamara also visiting this weekend. In Sam Webb’s recent pieces on Hill for The Michigan Insider ($), McNamara was mentioned by the safety as one of the commits he has developed the strongest bond with.
Having McNamara on campus with Hill will be really helpful in swaying the Oklahoma prospect. It’s unclear if this will be McNamara’s official visit, but I’d have to imagine it is, considering he’s flying from Nevada.
2020
Bijan Robinson - 4-star, #37 overall, #5 RB
The first of a pair of teammates coming in from Arizona, Robinson is a highly-touted running back prospect. He holds offers from Alabama, USC, Oklahoma and LSU early on.
Michigan offered back in May during the spring evaluation period, and have been rewarded with a visit. Coming all the way across the country indicates Robinson’s interest in U-M is significant.
There are no crystal balls in for Robinson yet.
Denver Warren - 4-star, #258 overall, #22 DT
This will be Warren’s second consecutive trip to Ann Arbor to see a game, after coming up from Illinois last week. The dude loves Michigan.
Lathan Ransom - 4-star, #326 overall, #20 S
Ransom is the second part of the duo from Salpointe Catholic in Tucson, Arizona. Michigan offered just last month, and Ransom was immediately impressed.
The safety also has offers from Stanford, USC, Georgia, Oklahoma and the Arizona schools. Stanford has his only two crystal ball picks as of now.
Look for more local guys to pop up on the sidelines, but the headliner this week is obviously Daxton Hill. Impressing him is imperative, and they could lock him up with a great visit and win on the field.
