After visiting this weekend for the dismantling of Nebraska, three-star in-state linebacker Cornell Wheeler has decided to commit to the hometown Wolverines.

Wheeler is the second player from Michigan to join the 2020 recruiting class, which now has five total members. His fellow in-stater, Andre Seldon, was technically first with the scoop about Wheeler, after tweeting this on Saturday:

Matt Dudek, watch your back!
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Wheeler is ranked as the 466th-best prospect in the nation, and 15th at inside linebacker, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. His head coach told 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, “He reminds me a lot of Josh Ross. He is physical, instinctive, loves football and plays the game with aggression.”
Wheeler is teammates at West Bloomfield with fellow Michigan targets Makari Paige and Donovan Edwards. With his commitment, the 2020 Michigan recruiting class jumps to eighth overall in the country. Linebacker will be a big need for the 2020 cycle, so look for a couple more players at the position to join Wheeler and the four other Wolverine commits.
